Beauty, Love and Passion

Many of the lakes in the water park are used for sailing, something I used to do a lot of: I learnt on a Wayfarer dinghy down on the Camel Estuary in Cornwall, then raced a Fireball in the Solent with Nick Fiddian Green (now also an artist), before crewing on Contessa yachts. Sailing, being at the intersection of water and wind, is a beautiful place to be: never static, never linear, a form of suspension. All this might go some way to explaining why I love this photo of a floating text sculpture by Ken Cox called the Three Graces (1967). (PS. that’s a Mirror dinghy in the picture.)
